Zack Snyder celebrated Ben Affleck's birthday by sharing a photo of one of the actor's earliest costume fittings as Batman.

The photo was uploaded to Vero on Aug. 15 to commemorate Affleck's 49th birthday. Snyder wrote that he had taken the image on Oct. 23, 2013 -- shortly before filming began on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and only two months after Affleck was cast in the role.

One of Ben Affleck's first costume tests as Batman.

The first officially released image of Affleck in the Batman suit would not appear until about seven months later, when Snyder posted a greyscale image of the actor standing by the Batmobile on May 13, 2014.

Affleck would go on to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne and Batman in a Suicide Squad cameo, as well as in both the theatrical and Snyder Cut of Justice League. He was originally signed on to direct a solo film featuring the Dark Knight, titled The Batman, but backed out in January 2019.

Affleck's next appearance in the DC Extended Universe will be alongside Michael Keaton, who played the Caped Crusader nearly three decades prior to him in Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns films. The pair will appear in The Flash, which features a multiverse crossover story and releases in theaters Nov. 4, 2022.
