The director followed up his 2013 film Man of Steel with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was the first live-action film to feature Batman and Superman together and also included the first cinematic appearance of Wonder Woman. The film starred Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Galdot as Wonder Woman, with Henry Cavill returning as Superman.

Released on March 26, 2016, the film found Batman -- already distrustful of the powerful Superman -- being manipulated into a conflict with the Man of Steel by Lex Luthor. The film received mixed to unfavorable reviews from fans and critics and made $873.6 million at the box office.

An extended cut known as "The Ultimate Edition" was released in July 2016. The version of the film included 31 additional minutes, which earned it an R-rating compared to the original version’s PG-13 rating. This version received slightly more favorable reviews and earned $76 million in sales. The above poster was created to promote this version of the film.
