“Batman v Superman” Suffers 69% Drop at Box Office Over Second Weekend

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” earned $51.8 million over its second weekend. According to Variety, this puts the film down 69% from its opening weekend haul of $166 million.

The film’s second weekend earnings fall just short of Sunday’s box office estimate of $52.4 million. Initial estimates predicted a 60% drop, as blockbusters generally fall around 50% in their second weekend, but the report notes that this is a particularly steep dive and the sharpest decline on a major film featuring Batman or Superman.

“Batman v. Superman” Dropped 71% at the Box Office on Friday

Nevertheless, “Batman v Superman” has earned $260.9 million domestically in total.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is now playing in theaters.
