DC Comics teases a new Batman v Superman matchup for Justice League Incarnate.Artist Jorge Fornés' variant cover for the miniseries' upcoming fourth issue depicts President Superman glaring with heat vision at Flashpoint Batman. The two met for the first time during 2021's Infinite Frontier limited series written by Joshua Williamson, where they teamed up to fight Darkseid and stop his evil plans for the Multiverse and Omniverse beyond. It seems that the two will follow their popular live-action versions and change their amicable relationship for something more conflicting next month.RELATED: The Entire DC Multiverse Is Fed Up with The Batman Who Laughs - Here's Why

The cover for Justice League Incarnate teases a fight between President Superman and Flashpoint Batman.

The most well-known fight between the Dark Knight and Man of Steel was 2016's Batman v Superman directed by Zack Snyder. Drawing inspiration from The Dark Knight Returns, the film featured a climatic battle between Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman, which was Affleck's first appearance as the caped crusader long before he was convinced to leave the role. The film garnered mixed reactions, but is still praised by loyal fans to this day.

In Justice League Incarnate, Thomas Wayne (Flashpoint Batman) and Calvin Ellis (President Superman) have been a friendly version of the World's Finest duo as the team pursues Darkseid and a crack in the Multiverse. Being that Ellis spends the majority of his time on super heroics and running Earth 23's United States, Wayne gave the hero some advice that he has "gotta live" too, ushering him to try for a relationship with Doctor Multiverse, DC's newest hero. President Superman and Doctor Multiverse tried to make a relationship work in the following issue, but ultimately deemed themselves better as teammates.

Since his return to the DC Universe, Flashpoint Batman has also been appearing in more and more projects. After debuting in Flashpoint by writer Geoff Johns and artist Andy Kubert, Thomas Wayne returned in Tom King's Batman run for "The Button" crossover with The Flash and later arcs like "City of Bane." Recently, a new project titled Flashpoint Beyond was announced for DC, with Johns returning to pen the series alongside writers Jeremy Adams (The Flash) and Tim Sheridan (Teen Titans Academy).

Flashpoint Beyond will be Johns first DC series since the Black Label miniseries Batman: Three Jokers debuted and concluded in 2020. The series will focus on Flashpoint Batman waking up in his home universe, which should no longer exist. Being that the solicitation for Justice League Incarnate #4 also teases the death of a member, it is unclear if the title or teased superhero conflict will lead into the Flashpoint sequel.

Justice League Incarnate #4 is written by Joshua Williamson and Dennis Culver, with art by Andrei Bressan and Chris Burnham and main cover art by Gary Frank. The variant cover shown was made by Fornés. The issue goes on sale Feb. 1 from DC Comics.
