"Batman V Superman" Breaks Ticket Sales Record For Superhero Movies

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is going to dominate this weekend's box office. In addition to predictions that the film could make as much as $350 million in its first weekend, The Wrap has reported that the film has broken one of Fandango's ticket sales records.

The film has now outsold all superhero films to become Fandango's top pre-selling superhero movie ever. According to Fandango, 90% of tickets sold for this weekend have been for "Batman v Superman," allowing the Zack Snyder-directed film to pass previous record-holders 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises" and 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Deadline previously reported that the film is on track to earn $350 million over its opening weekend. This would make it the second best pre-summer global opening to date, after last year's "Furious 7."

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams and others, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits screens on March 25.
