DC Comics recently announced a new Batman-themed monthly anthology debuting in March 2021, titled Batman: Urban Legends. The monthly anthology series will focus on the allies of the Dark Knight as they combat various threats in Gotham City while also telling their stories.

Batman: Urban Legends' first six issues will focus on Jason Todd/Red Hood, created by Chip Zdarsky (Daredevil, Sex Criminals) and artist Eddy Barrows (Detective Comics, Future State: Robin Eternal). When Red Hood investigates a lethal drug sweeping through Gotham City, the end result upends his life and puts him in Batman's crosshairs.

"Batman may be the biggest name in Gotham City, but there are lots of other heroes—and villains—who will get a turn to shine in Batman: Urban Legends, a brand-new monthly anthology series highlighting top talent and a mix of new voices making their mark on the city the Dark Knight calls home," DC Comics wrote on their website.

Below is a sneak peek of #1's cover, created by Hicham Habchi. Below Habaci's cover are variant covers created by David Finch (New Avengers) and Kael Ngu, displayed in that order.

Writer Matthew Rosenberg (Hawkeye: Freefall, Future State: Grifters) and artist Ryan Benjamin will bring a tale to the series featuring the Wildstorm mercenary, Grifter. Picking up from Batman #101, Grifter is hellbent on learning the true motives of the Halo Corporation and will once again battle with Batman.

Future State: The Next Batman's artist Laura Braga will team up with writer Stephanie Phillips to create a Harley Quinn story that takes place before the events of DC's upcoming Harley Quinn series -- also written by Stephanie Phillips, alongside artist Riley Rossmo. Quinn's story will center on her searching for Poison Ivy and exploring their complicated relationship.

Batman: Urban Legends #1 will also launch a three-part Outsiders tale, created by Future State: Outsiders writer Brandon Thomas with art by Max Dunbar (Marvel’s Champions, Dungeons and Dragons). The Outsiders tale reunites Katana with her Outsiders teammates Black Lightning and Metamorpho as she faces an enemy from her past.

Batman: Urban Legends will debut in print and digital on Mar. 16, 2021, from DC. The anthology's first issue will feature variant covers by David Finch (New Avengers) and Kael Ngu, with a main cover by Hicham Habchi. The 64-page, full-color anthology will go on sale for $7.99 and aims to bring new creative voices on a monthly basis.
