WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Batman and Panda Girl" from Batman: The World, on sale now from DC Comics.

Batman's crusade against crime has been his longstanding mission since he put on the cowl and even though he's occasionally left the city, that mission has mostly been contained to his native Gotham. But Batman: The World seeks to explore Batman through the eyes of the international community by taking Batman's war on crime global. One these world-scouring adventures took Batman to China, where he met the newest Robin and got an upclose look at her skills.

"Batman and Panda Girl" by Xu Xiaodong, Lu Xiaotong, Qui Kun and Yi Nan debuts the newest person to take the Robin mantle and she already appears to be a force to be reckoned with. During his globetrotting adventure, Bruce Wayne stopped in China to taste hot pot in a restaurant Alfred recommended. While there, he saw the waitress Kiki slip then elegantly flip in the air to catch everything that fell off her serving tray. When she arrived at Bruce's table, she noticed Batman's cowl peeking over the top of his unzipped backpack. Kiki immediately brought up her obsession with the Dark Knight, showing Bruce her action figure and Robin mask, then told him that the reason she started practicing martial arts was because she wanted to fight for justice. When Kiki asked Bruce if he believed in Batman, he responded by saying that he was more of an urban legend.

Kiki Robin Debut

The next day, Alfred informed Bruce that the Wayne Enterprises board of directors had bought all the real estate on the street where Kiki's grandfather's restaurant was located. When Bruce was on his way back to the restaurant, a group of gangsters seemingly hired by Wayne Enterprises bursts into the restaurant to inform everyone present that the company bought every business on the street. One of the goons steps on Kiki's Batman toy on his way out. Afterwards, Kiki donned a yellow cape, a red cheongsam and green gloves evocative of Robin's superhero costume to save the street from the Wayne Enterprises gangsters. She climbed the side of the building and sneaked in through a window only to be captured by the goons she hoped to stop.

Just as they had captured her, Batman appeared in a costume inspired by ancient Chinese warriors. He quickly defeated the goons holding Kiki hostage but the remaining ones chased the duo to the top of the building. There, Batman realized that their onslaught would never end if they continued at this rate, which is when one goon cried out that they had the property deeds so it would never change anything. Batman announced that he would bring Bruce Wayne himself to deal with the problem. Having called up and denied his board of director's plans for the street, Bruce appeared at the restaurant the next day. Kiki eagerly welcomed him and noted that Bruce's superpower was his almost infinite wealth.

While her superhero name is never actually given in the story, it's safe to assume that Kiki will take up the name of Panda Girl after her first night out as a vigilante. Seeing as how Batman: The World takes some inspiration from Batman Inc, it's no surprise that it would debut a new hero to join the international Bat-family.

Batman Inc is set to return later this year with a fierce new villain as the main antagonist. Batman will likely need help to defeat them, so it's possible that Panda Girl/Kiki will return in the near future fighting alongside her heroic idol. She is also extremely new to being a vigilante so becoming part of Batman Inc would help her get acclimated to the community and learn from the other superheroes who were inspired by Batman.
