DC Comics has announced a new one-shot, Batman: The Joker War zone.

The anthology will see the introduction of a new antihero: Clownhunter, for which no details have yet been revealed. The one-shot centers on the Joker, who has taken over Bruce Wayne's massive fortune and with it, turned Gotham City into a warzone, torn apart in the battle between the Clown Prince of Crime and the Bat-family.

The 48-page anthology comic features familiar characters such as Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown and Luke Fox, fighting against the Joker's assault on the city in a collection of short stories from a list of acclaimed writers and artists including James Tynion IV, John Ridley, Guillem March, James Stokoe, Joshua Williamson and David Lafuente. Batman: The Joker War Zone will arrive with cover art by Ben Oliver and a card stock variant cover by Derrick Chew.

The announcement comes with a short preview that includes both the cover and the variant, pages depicting the Joker and Bane, the plight of Gotham City, Cassandra Cain, Spoiler and a first look at the one-shot's mysterious Clownhunter.

Batman: The Joker War Zone #1 is scheduled to hit shelves Sep. 29 and will be available on DC Connect.
