“Batman: The Animated Series” defined many viewers’ depiction of Batman. It became a formative part of many childhoods, and to this day, viewers vehemently swear by the television series; it captured the essence of Batman in a way that’s rarely been paralleled. Well, those fans are in luck -- Cryptozoic Entertainment recently released its new Batman: The Animated Series card game, based on the fan-favorite episode "Almost Got ‘Im."

The title comes directly from the fan-favorite episode from Bruce Timm and Paul Dini’s “Batman: The Animated Series," which featured Gotham’s villains swapping stories over a game of poker, recounting the times they nearly defeated Batman. All the while, the Dark Knight is hidden somewhere in the midst of the group.

Based off other similar party games like “Werewolf” or “Mafia,” “Almost Got Im’" is unique in how it adds a poker element. With a 52-card deck, the game requires players to create poker hands that allow for their special abilities to activate once the lights go out. The game can be played by five to eight people and features characters like Joker, Poison Ivy, Riddler, Two-Face, Killer Croc, and Penguin -- and just like the story it’s based on, one of the players is secretly Batman. Everyone has a role to play, but depending on their role, players are either trying to defeat the villains or uncover who among them is the Caped Crusader.
