The following article contains spoilers from Batman/Superman: World's Finest #12, on sale now from DC Comics.

Superheros have never been strangers to the dating scene. In fact, some of the most iconic couples in comic books have worn masks together. For example, Batman and Catwoman have built a relationship over their game of cat and mouse. Meanwhile, Ant-Man and the Wasp have also shown how heroes could transcend titles and continue on a legacy in various mediums. But Batman/Superman: World's Finest #12 (by Mark Waid, Emanuela Lupacchino, Wade Von Grawbadger, Norm Rapmund, Tamra Bonvillain and Steve Wands) has revealed that not all superheroes work well together.

Supergirl and Dick Grayson's Robin are iconic in their own rights, and not until recently, was it assumed that the two had ever dated. That said, the moment Supergirl witnessed Dick Grayson's near-death experience, she knew she had to ask him out and try to understand what would make humans without powers risk their lives. But sadly, all Kara Zor-El learned was that some mysteries are best left unsolved.

Robin and Supergirl Went on a Date - And it was Terrible

Kara already knew that she was in trouble before the date when, after picking out an outfit, she saw Dick still wearing his Robin costume. Realizing that this date would be more public than she'd hoped, she quickly realized that he was more interested in talking about his exploits and showing off rather than trying to learn who she is as a person. To make matters worse, he stumbled throughout their conversation on their date, and he even forgot his wallet.

On the other hand, Dick was very nervous about the date and didn't know how to behave. He would overspeak and rely on his inherent desire to be the center of attention to get him by, potentially because he thought Kara would think it was interesting. In the end, the two were on very different wavelengths and their date proved that some heroes should just be friends.

Supergirl and Robin Learned Valuable Lessons From Their Failed Date

Part of relationships is understanding one another on a deeper level, hence why Kara asked Dick out in the first place. However, there's an allure to being a hero that would make showing off commonplace and a hard habit to shake. But this isn't always the case. For example, Reed and Sue Richards never let their superhero careers hinder their love. The same could be said for Green Arrow and Black Canary who were very much equals and operate well as a unit.

Supergirl was intrigued by Robin's courage, similar to why Clark fell for Lois and this made her want to get to know him better. While their date crashed and burned, they did still learn from it. Kara realized what she wanted from a partner, and it wasn't Dick Grayson. And Dick learned that he was far too self-centered for a relationship -- at least for the time being. As a result, Supergirl and Robin's date proved that even superheroes aren't immune to awkward dates and a lack of chemistry.
