The following contains spoilers for Batman/Superman: World's Finest #3, on sale now from DC.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest is about to introduce a new combo character to DC Comics.

On Twitter, artist Dan Mora revealed a completed variant cover for Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4, an issue illustrated by Mora and written by Mark Waid. The artwork shows a character that mixes the uniforms and logos of the Man of Steel and Caped Crusader, with a mask that looks similar to that of Jason Todd/Red Hood. To accompany the cover, Mora tweeted, "[Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4] sneak peek of a new character. I had a blast drawing this guy. [Final order cutoff] is this Sunday, May 22nd, make sure to preorder your copies."

Who exactly this character is remains to be seen, though it is not the first time that Batman and Superman have been combined into one person. World's Finest #142 introduced readers to the first Composite Superman back in 1964. Named Joseph Meach, the character was granted various superpowers and adopted a look that was half Superman, half Batman, facing off against the heroes more than once. Though Meach died a hero later on in World's Finest #168, he is not the only Composite Superman to exist in comics.

How this new character will be introduced in World's Finest #4 also remains to be seen. The upcoming issue is set to pit Batman and Superman against Green Lantern, who is being mind-controlled by the devil Nezha. The prior issue ended with Green Lantern trapping the two in a cage construct while Nezha looms over Batman's trusted butler, Alfred Pennyworth, in the Batcave.

Though Batman and Superman are known as the World's Finest duo, the title from Waid and Mora features numerous other fan-favorites -- heroes and villains. While the two heroes fight Nezha in the present, their legacies, Robin/Dick Grayson and Supergirl, search for a way to stop him in the past, specifically China in 1579 B.C. The series also includes appearances from the Doom Patrol, Poison Ivy, the Flash/Barry Allen, Wonder Woman and more.

As of writing, there is no end in sight for World's Finest, which flashes back to an earlier version of the DC Universe. For DC's Aug. 2022 solicitations, the sixth issue of the series is set to focus on a time-displaced Robin following Nezha's supposed defeat.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 is written by Waid with interior and cover art from Mora. Variant covers for the upcoming issue are contributed to by Riley Rossmo, Freddie Williams II and Derrick Chew. The issue goes on sale June 21 from DC Comics.
