WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Batman Superman World's Finest #1, on sale now from DC Comics.

Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent find themselves trading blows with a fellow member of the Justice League in Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4. The issue promises a toe-to-toe fight between the two heroes and Green Lantern.

According to a preview for the issue, Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 also features Robin and Supergirl. The two teens are stuck in the past, investigating secrets related to the ancient Chinese devil Nezha. In the present, Batman and Superman find themselves facing off against Hal Jordan for unexplained reasons -- though considering that Red Kryptonite-induced hallucinations have already played a large part in the series, there's a possibility that Green Lantern may not be in the right state of mind as he takes on his two comrades.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest, written by Kingdom Come and Superman: Birthright scribe Mark Waid and illustrated by Dan Mora (Detective ComicsKlaus), is Waid's first major DC series since 2008. The series tells a tale of the Dynamic Duo and the Man of Steel set several years in the past, as evidenced by Dick Grayson's presence as Robin and all of the heroes' classic costumes. Issue #1 saw Batman and Superman establishing their friendship in an early adventure where the Man of Steel saved Robin from the Penguin and promised to always have Batman's back, with the Dark Knight pledging the same.

Years later, Poison Ivy and Metallo attacked Metropolis for unexplained reasons. As Batman and Robin took care of Ivy, Metallo injected Superman with a potent cocktail of Red Kryptonite. Superman's body immediately lurched into a series of out-of-control transformations. As the Red Kryptonite caused Clark to visualize Zod, Lex Luthor and his other enemies attacking him, Batman called in the Doom Patrol for assistance. The issue ended with Negative Man absorbing Superman's energy and Dr. Niles Caulder preparing to carry out surgery on the Man of Steel.

Future issues of Batman/Superman: World's Finest promise to shed more light on Nezha, a supervillain with roots in Chinese mythology who may be the grand mastermind behind Poison Ivy and Metallo's strangely destructive behavior. The House of Ji, a team of superheroes from ancient China, will also debut in issue #3, which teases a "twisted time-travel tale of titanic tenure" with Robin and Supergirl visiting 1600 B.C.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 features cover art by Mora, with variant covers by Freddie E. Williams II, Derrick Chew and Riley Rossmo. The issue goes on sale on June 21.
