The Batman Secret Files series will feature one-shots dedicated to the Dark Knight's allies in July, and one will see Huntress take center stage with all-new powers.

Batman Secret Files: Huntress #1 will see Helena Bertinelli gain her own superpower -- with a rather horrific origin. A parasite implanted in her brain allows her to witness events through the eyes of the victims of Vile, Gotham City's newest villain. The one-shot is written by Mariko Tamaki (Detective Comics) and illustrated by Stray Bullets' David Lapham.

Tamaki is also set to write a backup story centered on Huntress in the pages of Detective Comics #1035. That story will see Helena investigating the murder of her friend, with the outcome having "big implications" for her as a character. Tamaki previously made history as the first female writer to tackle a major Batman title with her run on Detective Comics.

The Batman Secret Files series of one-shots will begin this July, with each 40-page one-shot turning the spotlight on the Dark Knight's various allies. The first one-shot will focus on Duke Thomas, aka the Signal, with the creative team of Tony Patrick and Christian Duce attached. Secret Files will join the Batman: Urban Legends anthology series by putting the focus on the various guardians of Gotham City.

Written by Mariko Tamaki and illustrated by David Lapham, with a main cover by Irvin Rodriguez and a card stock variant by Riccardo Federici, Batman Secret Files: Huntress #1 goes on sale on July 27 from DC.
