DC and Warner Brothers' newest Batman film has seen quite a bit of production stalls. After a rough start, director Matt Reeves' DC Extended Universe film will seek a new Batman to don the cowl. As the world eagerly awaits for news on who will portray the Dark Knight in this version, other rumors point to a delay, as work on the script may stall the movie even longer.According to Variety's Justin Kroll, the script's changes might delay the project's filming until 2020.  "Here's a small BATMAN update for you: hearing the script is still being polished up and that there's a possibility shooting begins at the top of 2020 instead of fall 2019," he wrote. "Which means it'll probably still be a minute before we find out who the next Caped Crusader will be."RELATED: RUMOR: Batman Casting Could Happen Very Soon

Originally, actor Ben Affleck was tied to the project, with plans to reprise his Batman v. Superman and Justice League role. However, Affleck pulled out of the film, saying that he wasn't really enthralled with the script. Since then, DC revealed it's looking for a fresh face to play the Dark Knight, now opting for a younger version of the character.

Kroll's new report addresses an earlier rumor that Reeves' film would start shooting by the year's end. With changes to the scripts still being made, the announcement of who will wear the cowl will likely be pushed back as well. As of now, the project remains something of a mystery, although other rumors indicate it may be set in a different era and possibly feature villains like the Penguin.
