Singer Rihanna provoked speculation earlier this week that she might have a role to play in Matt Reeves' The Batman with an ambiguous video of her black boot and a caption making reference to the Dark Knight. However, she says that had nothing to do with the film.

Rihanna talked to ET about the video that sparked speculation at her annual Diamond Ball event, saying, "No, that has nothing to do with Poison Ivy. That [post] has a lot with Batman [because] I have separate obsessions/I have bigger obsession with Poison Ivy, I'm just being honest. And yeah, I dyed my hair red because of Uma Thurman in the original."

However, that doesn't mean Rihanna isn't interested in playing the character. "You know what, they didn't call me yet. But if they did, I would love to go in and try out because Poison Ivy is one of my obsessions in life," she shared. "I did it for Halloween one year, I mean come on!

At this time, little is known about The Batman. However, a report in March suggested the movie might take place in the '90s, with earlier rumors indicating Penguin will serve as the primary villain. Twilight's Robert Pattinson will replace Ben Affleck and take on the mantle of the Dark Knight. Rumors about Catwoman appearing in the film also started popping up in May.

Uma Thurman played Poison Ivy in 1997's Batman & Robin, which was the last time the villain appeared on the big screen. The character is said to play a role in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film Gotham City Sirens, but production on that movie has since been put on hold, and it's unclear when it might resume.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, who will also produce alongside Dylan Clark. While casting is still underway, the film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
