Before there was Batman, there was Alfred Pennyworth.

The first teaser trailer for Pennyworth, the prequel series following Bruce Wayne's loyal butler, offers a frenetic glimpse into Alfred's life. In the 17-second spot, the series flashes over a few London landmarks before diving straight into the action, with Alfred cocking a gun and a switchblade sliding out of its casing. It ends as he introduces himself to his passenger, a man who looks much like Batman's father Thomas Wayne.

The drama series will be ten-episodes long and focus on an early-20s version of Alfred Pennyworth, a recent SAS veteran who opens a security company in London during the 1960s. Employed by Thomas Wayne, the series will explore how Alfred became such a trusted ally and protectors for the Wayne family.

Developed by former Gotham collaborators Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth, Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne, Jason Flemyng as Lord Harwood, Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes, Ryan Fletcher as Dave Boy, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett as Bazza and Jessica Ellerby as the Queen. The series will premiere this summer on Epix.
