The series kicks off in August with Tom King and Mitch Gerads's Batman - One Bad Day: The Riddler. The synopsis for the 64-page one-shot reads, "Edward Nygma’s meticulous rules and systems go out the window when he kills seemingly at random, but Batman isn’t buying it! This tense intellectual thriller sees Batman unravel as he tries to decode the Riddler’s motivation!"

Following The Riddler is Batman - One Bad Day: Two-Face by Mariko Tamaki, Javier Fernandez and Jordie Bellaire in September and Batman - One Bad Day: The Penguin by John Ridley, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cam Smith and Arif Prianto in October. Gerry Duggan, Matteo Scalera and Dave Stewart's Batman - One Bad Day: Mr. Freeze launches in November, with Batman - One Bad Day: Catwoman by G. Willow Wilson and Jamie McKelvie coming in December and Batman - One Bad Day: Bane by Joshua Williamson, Howard Porter and Tomeu Morey in January. Rounding out the series is Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Xermanico and Romulo Fajardo Jr.'s Batman - One Bad Day: Clayface in February and Tom Taylor and Ivan Reis' Batman - One Bad Day: Ra's al Ghul in March.

The One Bad Day title references a line in 1988's Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore, Brian Bolland and John Higgins. In the infamous one-shot, the Joker kidnaps Jim Gordon and attempts to drive him mad. At the same time, The Killing Joke dives into the Joker's origin story and how all it took was "one bad day" for the comedian to turn into the nefarious Clown Prince of Crime.

As the Dark Knight races to defend Gotham from some of his most notorious villains, Bruce Wayne is also fighting a new enemy in Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez's new Batman run, which kicked off last week with Batman #125. While villains such as Penguin and Clayface make an appearance in the issue, the new run will see Batman take on a new Doomsday-like character named Failsafe. The story continues with Batman #126, which releases Aug. 2.

Batman - One Bad Day: The Riddler launches Aug. 16 from DC.
