The first full-length trailer for Batman Ninja debuted today, and while footage is in Japanese, without English subtitles, it's tough to deny that the film is absolutely gorgeous.

The anime's story sees many of Gotham City's best-known residents, both good and evil, relocated to feudal Japan. There's the Dark Knight and The Joker, of course, but also Nightwing, the Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, Catwoman, Alfred Pennyworth, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, The Penguin, Gorilla Grodd and more. Since the trailer's pace is so insanely fast, we've slowed things down and taken screenshots in order to more fully appreciate the redesigned looks for Batman's family and rogues gallery.

Announced in October at New York Comic Con, where a clip was screened, Batman Ninja is directed by Junpei Mizusaki from a story written by Kazuki Nakashima (Kill La Kill). The characters were designed by Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai).

Arriving next year on Blu-ray and DVD, Batman Ninja is only the latest foray into anime by the Dark Knight, following 2008’s direct-to-video Batman: Gotham Knight, which bridged the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight with a series of anime shorts, each produced by a different studio.
