Warner Bros. introduces fans to the most powerful man in Japan, Lord Joker, in the English-language dub for the direct-to-video animated movie Batman Ninja.
In the film, the Dark Knight is displaced through time to feudal Japan, where, without his gadgets, he must train with a katana and take the fight to his arch-enemy, The Joker. Along for the journey are other familiar faces like Catwoman, Nightwing and Alfred Pennyworth.
Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine transports many of Batman’s worst enemies to feudal Japan – along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies – including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family – to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.
The trailer is relatively, but shows off a lot in its 90 seconds. There's a shot of the Bat-Family meditating, and The Joker using some sort of massive machine. According to Batman in the trailer, The Joker's end goal is to rewrite history and take over Japan.
Arriving April 24 digitally and May 8 on Blu-ray and DVD, Batman Ninja stars Roger Craig Smith as the Dark Knight, Tony Vale as the Joker, Grey Griffin as Catwoman, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn and Fred Tatasciore as Gorilla Grodd.
