Batman will bring his brand of justice to SINoALICE's playable roster of anime heroines.

The new collaboration was announced on the official website for Square Enix's literary-themed mobile game. SINoALICE's newly redesigned version of Batman will be available for players starting on Sept. 16. Despite his aversion to the weapon, Batman will be a Gunner class character that players can add to their party. In addition to Batman, the trailer for the crossover event also teases newly reimagined designs for Harley Quinn and the Joker as well. The crossover event has been confirmed for release only to players in Japan at this time.

SINoALICE launched in Japan in 2017 and was directed by Yoko Taro, the director of cult-classic games such as Nier Replicant and Nier Automata. SINoALICE features a cast of unlockable characters comprised of reimagined versions of classic literary icons, such as Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, and Aladdin from The One Thousand and One Nights. The mobile RPG was localized into English and given a worldwide release in 2020. SINoALICE is notable from Taro's other works as it does not take place within the interconnected universe that the Nier and Drakengard games share.

Square Enix Books, the print publishing arm of the video game company, recently announced that it will localize and release SINoALICE's manga adaptation outside of Japan. The manga focuses on the character of Alice, who lives a normal life in the real world until she begins to have violent nightmares that begin to bleed over into her waking hours. Soon Alice is drawn into a brutal competition, where she has to compete with other figures pulled from classical literature in order to bring their original creators back to life.

Batman fans looking to play as a more traditional take on the character might not have to wait much longer, as a rumored leak suggests that the next game in DC and Netherrealm's Injustice series, reportedly titled Injustice 3: Gods Will Fall, is in production. NetherRealm Studios recently wrapped production on the last of Mortal Kombat 11's DLC updates, which has led some fans to speculate if a new Injustice game is in the works, as the developer has alternated work between the two series in recent years. Additionally, the supposed leak also contains a listing for a remaster of Batman: Arkham Knight, the open-world action game that was originally released for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2015. It is worth noting that the veracity of the leak has been called into question, but if true, it seems like DC video game fans will have a lot to look forward to in the near future.
