Barbara Gordon's Oracle will be regrounded to become the center of the Batman mythos.

In an interview with Gamesradar's Newsarama -- which hinted that a new Batgirl series would be coming this year -- writer James Tynion IV spoke about making Barbara Gordon a central character in the Batman universe. He revealed that he and a few other creators have big plans, not just for Oracle, but also for the characters in direct contact with her: "One thing that we wanted to do was reground Barbara Gordon at the center of the Batman mythos." Barbara had been a constant key supporting character to several main players, especially for "Batman in Batman, Jim Gordon in The Joker and Dick Grayson in Nightwing," Tynion explained.

The interview also revealed that Barbara Gordon won't be all on her own. She will also have fellow Batgirls, Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown, orbiting close by, implying that these three will form their own group. This connection was confirmed by Tynion as Barbara's "up front and center" role will allow her to build a "new direction for herself," and move closer to evolving "the Batgirl mythos" with Cassandra and Stephanie by her side.

Tynion is very excited for the project and for fans to see how he and other creators will take Barbara forward, especially after she reclaimed the role as Oracle in 2019 and recently appeared in Batman #109. Currently, there is no word on when to expect this new series, and no artist for it has been announced.
