What if the Caped Crusader were more than just a rich billionaire in a fancy suit and a utility belt? What if Bruce Wayne was more than human — a Meta in the same vein as other beings in the DC Universe who rely on uncanny biological, cosmic and supernatural powers? Such a being would transcend his own status as the Dark Knight, and become something far greater.

A superpowered Batman would definitely change the scope of the DC Universe, by elevating the abilities of one of Earth's most capable superheroes, and putting him on par with guys like Superman. These are ten superpowers that Batman should have, in the rare event that he ever becomes a Metahuman within the DC Universe.

10 Any Man-Bat Should Be Able To Fly

Naturally, a crimefighter who takes on the symbolic characteristics of a bat should be able to fly. It only makes sense, not just from a physical standpoint, but from a superhero one, as well. Being forced onto the ground is never a good solution for any superhero, but Batman does manage to get around thanks to a combination of gadgets.

The ability to fly would negate Batman's need to use grappling hooks and a gliding apparatus to get around. This would instill a lot more fear in criminals by forcing them to look up a lot more. Batman's takedowns and approaches would be more silent, and far more terrifying.

9 Having Super-Hearing Wouldn't Hurt

Batman uses a technological form of echolocation in The Dark Knight

Bats use echolocation to fly, navigate surroundings and track prey. In fact, it's a form of super-hearing, but different from the kind utilized by a super-being like Superman. Batman's super-hearing would probably take on the characteristics of a bat, utilizing the same echolocation function as his namesake.

In truth, Batman has used a variation of this ability several times in the past. He's created a number of gadgets that help him echolocate the surrounding area in order to track subjects and map surroundings. Unshackled from technology, a super-powered Batman would be able to use this ability at any time, like Daredevil does.

8 A Healing Factor Would Help Batman Last Longer In A Fight

Batman is definitely one of the few guys on Earth that no one would want to start a fight with, but he's still just a man. Though trained to peak physical condition, he's had to rely constantly on technological upgrades and special suits in order to tangle with some of the rougher bad guys in the DC Universe.

At the very least, Batman could benefit from a healing factor of some sort. Though it probably wouldn't take the same form as that of Wolverine, it would help Batman deal with bruises during battle, and heal up faster in preparation for the next bout. It would have also come in handy after Bane broke his back in the Knightfall story arc.

7 Batman Should Be Speedy To Emulate A Real Bat

Batman wouldn't need to be as insanely fast as The Flash, or beat Superman in a foot race, but some extra speed would go a long way towards enhancing his abilities. In the wild, bats are notoriously quick, difficult to track, and even harder to catch. Because they move so fast, they make excellent predators that can strike fast.

A similar power would benefit Batman in a fight by giving him some enhanced reflexes. Even 50% percent faster than an average human, Batman would be able to go up against some of the upper echelon villains of the DC Universe, and actually hold his own for the duration.

6 Super-Endurance Could Help Batman Stay The Course

Due to his peak physical conditioning, Batman can go the distance longer than most humans could ever dream of, but there's an argument to be made for him having superhuman endurance, as well. This could be a natural biological offshoot of his built-in physical health, or something acquired along the way.

Either way, a Batman with increased levels of endurance would succumb to fatigue far later than most, and that would be of immense benefit during drawn-out slugfests with some of the tougher DC supervillains.

5 A Tougher Skin Would Let Batman Fight Superman Without A Suit

If Batman developed superpowers that made his skin denser and tougher compared to a normal human, he'd definitely have a leg up on the competition. During his fight with Superman, he was forced to rely on a special exo-suit capable of withstanding the barrage of punishment that a Kryptonian could bring.

With tougher skin capable of withstanding gunshot wounds and other attacks without breaking the skin, Batman wouldn't have need of such a suit. It's doubtful he'd beat Superman (or similarly powered beings) without the aid of a few extra tricks and gadgets, but at least he'd have one less thing to worry about.

4 Batman Should Have A Sixth Sense To Protect Himself

The idea of Batman having the equivalent of Spider-Man's spidey-sense seems a bit far-fetched, but some sort of superhuman perceptive ability could be a benefit. This would come in handy in moments of extreme danger, when his training and street smarts simply wouldn't be enough.

In battle, a sixth sense would allow Batman greater reflexes by giving him slight precognitive powers, which would allow him to dodge attacks with greater efficiency. Such an ability would probably come in handy when speaking to people, and discerning their motives.

3 A Cloaking Power Would Help Batman Blend Into His Surroundings

Batman tends to stick to the shadows, and for good reason. Not only does it keep him safe from detection, but it also strikes fear into the hearts of criminals who can never be sure which direction he'll come from. There are times when darkness is not an environmental constant, but Batman is left wide open for attack.

With no shadows to hide in, Batman could benefit from some sort of cloaking power. By blending into his surroundings, he could evade detection better, at least for the short while. Ideally, this superpower shouldn't be full invisibility or the ability to morph into the background, but some sort of imperfect cloak designed to give him a slight edge.

2 The Ability To See Into The Past Would Aid His Detective Work

Part of the charm of Batman is his ability to work a case, just like a police detective searching for clues. In truth, it's these deductive abilities that make Batman such a fascinating figure, when he's not busy cracking skulls and taking down the worst offenders in the Rogues Gallery.

Still, Batman having the ability to drift into the past through visions could be of benefit, particularly during his case work. By touching corpses, leftover items or evidence at a crime scene, Batman could "walk back" events in his mind and determine just what happened with greater accuracy.

1 Adoptive Muscle Memory

This often-forgotten superpower allows a person to identify, memorize, and copy a particular set of movements from another person. In the context of say, a martial arts battle between two opponents, this power would be extremely valuable, and give the possessor an edge.

Batman would benefit greatly from this ability, especially when going up against evenly-matched opponents, or those of much greater physical strength. The ability to analyze attack patterns and strikes via adoptive muscle memory could give Batman the ability to map an opponent's entire fighting structure, and develop appropriate countermeasures.
