A variant cover for the second issue showcases the unlikely duo of the Dark Knight and the Joker's head.Snyder posted the variant on Twitter. The cover, which is by John Romita Jr., shows Batman holding Joker's detached head in the sand-covered lantern in which it is contained. Batman: Last Knight on Earth has not provided an explanation for the Joker's current situation yet. In the first issue, Batman found the sand-covered jar containing the head of his archenemy hanging on a pole in the desert. When Batman asked the Joker how can he still be alive despite not having a body, the criminal simply said he cannot remember much about the past.

Batman: Last Knight On Earth #1 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo is available now, with issue #2 releasing July 31. Issue #2 comes with the main cover by Capullo and the variant cover by John Romita Jr.
