Zoe Kravitz, who will play Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves' The Batman, revealed the role made her just as nervous as she was excited.

Asked if she felt nervous about the role, Kravitz told Variety, "Definitely. I was excited when I got the role, and usually when you get a job the people who are excited about it are you, your parents, your agent, your friends and that’s kind of it. But when the press release came, I got more text messages and calls than I’ve gotten on my birthday, on my wedding day. All of a sudden, the reality began to sink in about what this means not only to me, but to everybody else culturally -- and the fans of this universe are so dedicated and opinionated."

The nervousness came later, but it only fueled her desire to do a good job. "It was a little scary, but also whenever I get nervous about something, I feel it pushes me to a better place anyway, so I welcome the nerves," she said. She also mentioned that, while she wants to please the fans, she doesn't want to focus on possible future criticisms.

In Batman lore, Selina Kyle is a cat burglar and the longtime love interest of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The last actor to play Catwoman in a live-action film was Anne Hathaway in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. Camren Bicondova more recently played Selina in Warner Bros.' Gotham TV, series with Lili Simmons portraying the character in the final episode.
