Batman #89 will feature the DC debut of Punchline, who appears to be The Joker's replacement for ex-love interest/sidekick Harley Quinn.

Initially teased in January by writer James Tynion IV, DC has confirmed Punchline will arrive in the form of a single-panel cameo in Batman #89, by Tynion IV, Guillem March and Tomeu Morey before making her first full appearance in the following week's Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3, by Tynion IV, Steve Epting, Javier Fernandez and Nick Filardi. These, of course, are all things Tynion IV alluded to in his newsletter, while also hinting she could be The Joker's new girlfriend and that she could play a role in the upcoming "Joker War" story arc.

The solicitation for Batman #89 refers to "someone even more sinister lurking in the shadows waiting to deliver the coup de grâce," while the solicitation for Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3 points to The Joker potentially helping Apex Lex Luthor send The Batman Who Laughs back to the Dark Multiverse. That said, it remains to be seen how Punchline will factor into these stories.

DC's Batman #89, by James Tynion IV, Guillem March and Tomeu Morey, goes on sale Feb. 19, while Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3, by Tynion IV, Steve Epting, Javier Fernandez and Nick Filardi, goes on sale Feb. 26.
