English bank Vanquis put together a list of the richest — and poorest — superheroes in the Marvel and DC universes, determining that Batman is the most wealthy of them all.

According to the bank, the CEO of Wayne Enterprises enjoys an estimated annual salary of £751,566, which is $988,902 when converted to American dollars. This puts him ahead of Iron Man/Tony Stark, the CEO of Stark Industries, who has a yearly salary of £699,205 ($920,006). Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, CEO of Queen Consolidated, is right behind him, standing at £679,514 ($894,098) a year.

After Mr. Queen, there is a significant drop in wealth among the superheroes. Doctor Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange earns £300,021 ($394,765) as a neurosurgeon, followed by mercenary Wade Wilson/Deadpool (£136,800/$$180,000) and Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters principle/founder Professor Charles Xavier (£100,329/$$132,012. Surprisingly, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl makes a good amount of cash as the head of the Gotham City Public Library, earning £92,630 ($121,881) a year.

Many of the heroes also serve in the military, which does not pay as well some of the jobs their fellow Avengers and Justice League members hold. As a colonel in the United States Air Force, James "Rhodey" Rhodes/War Machine holds the highest military title of anyone on the list, giving him a salary of £63,212 ($83,174). Major Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel earns £45,466 ($59,824), followed by Captain Steve Rogers/Captain America (£39,975/$52,599) and Captain Hal Jordan/Green Lantern (£39,975/$52,599).

Not all heroes have well-paying jobs, though. Kara Danvers/Supergirl, who is a reporter at CatCo Magazine, earns £37,569/$49,433 for her journalistic efforts. Peter Parker/Spider-Man also works in journalism. But as a freelance photographer, he only makes £14,140/$18,605. However, that still puts him above the least well-off hero on the list, Scott Lang/Ant-Man, whose job at Baskin Robbins only gives him £14,093/$18,543.

Other superheroes included in the study are Daredevil, Robin, Black Lightning, Superman, Flash Hawkeye, Hulk, Falcon, Black Widow and Wonder Woman. On average, DC heroes make more (£59,695/$78,546) compared to their Marvel counterparts (£54,608/$71,852).

To calculate the payments, Vanquis took the average salary for their listed profession in the city where they are based. For characters based in fictional locations — like Gotham City or Metropolis — it took the average salary from the real-world city that fictional location is based on.
