The following contains major spoilers for Batman 2022 Annual #1, available now from DC.

Batman Incorporated has officially reformed and is now under new leadership who will guide the team into a new mission, as seen in DC's Batman 2022 Annual #1.

Batman 2022 Annual #1 comes from writer Ed Brisson, artist John Timms, colorist Rex Lokus and letterer Clayton Cowles. In the issue, Batman/Bruce Wayne has decided to re-launch Batman Incorporated, which is a program full of heroes like him who can deal with threats around the world. To lead the group, Batman has decided to put his trust in Ghost-Maker -- a decision that raises some eyebrows, as the other members of Batman Incorporated are relatively unsure if Ghost-Maker is the right man for the job.

"My world has changed," Batman tells the group on his reasoning for choosing Ghost-Maker. "I've lost my funding and no longer have access to the resources I once did. I can't offer this operation what it needs to properly function. And even if I could, Gotham needs me right now. Splitting my time between Gotham and Batman Incorporated wouldn't be fair to you or to the people of Gotham. And while Ghost-Maker may seem arrogant and self-centered, I know that he wants the same thing that we all do. He is the only person I trust to run the program."

Ghost-Maker wastes no time taking charge and quickly begins assigning out orders to Batman Incorporated. Members within the program include Chief Man-of-Bats, Raven Red, Batman of Japan, Bat-Man of China, Knight, Dark Ranger, El Gaucho, Nightrunner, Wingman and Clownhunter.

Batman Incorporated also picks up one additional recruit throughout the course of the issue -- Gray Wolf, a character Ghost-Maker says was created by Lex Luthor when he had control of the team. "Luthor was running crime-fighting experiments in cities around the world," Ghost-Maker explains. "Funding programs where he could create Batmen of his own. Poaching the best of each in order to create his über-Batman, Abyss. These programs have been abandoned -- allowed to run wild with little to no oversight or control."

With Gray Wolf accompanying them, Batman 2022 Annual #1 ends with the team heading off to deal with Luthor's other programs. DC told CBR that the group will soon return for a new Batman Incorporated series from Brisson and Timms launching this October.
