Warner Bros. Animation has released (via IGN) the first full trailer for the upcoming animated film Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, based on the 1989 one-shot comic book of the same name. The film is the latest in a long line of direct-to-video DC Comics-based animated features, which began with 2007's Superman: Doomsday.

The first-ever DC Comics Elseworlds story, Gotham by Gaslight was written by Brian Augustyn and drawn by Hellboy mastermind Mike Mignola, with inks by P. Craig Russell. The story features a Victorian-era take on Batman who's on the hunt for serial killer Jack the Ripper. The one-off story spawned a sequel, Master of the Future, written by Augustyn and drawn by Eduardo Barreto.

Produced by Bruce Timm, written by Jim Krieg and directed by Sam Liu, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is a production of Warner Bros. Animation starring Bruce Greenwood (Batman: Under the Red Hood) as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Alfred Pennyworth. The film will be released on Digital HD and direct-to-video in 2018.
