WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Future State: Robin Eternal #1 by Meghan Fitzmartin, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Adriano Lucas and Pat Brosseau, on sale now.

Anytime the Lazarus Pit is involved in the Batman Universe, things don't usually end well. Found in select places all over the world, the Lazarus Pits have been used to resurrect the likes of Ra's al Ghul and Jason Todd. It's something Bruce Wayne has been tempted to use but he knows nothing good can come from them. That's part of why they've been decommissioned under his watch, helping level the playing field against the League of Assassins.

However, Future State: Robin Eternal reveals that the status of the Lazarus Pits has changed drastically, as they've been been weaponized in the form of the Lazarus Resin to take out the Dark Knight's remaining loyalists in the Magistrate-controlled Gotham City.

In this Blade Runner-esque Gotham, Tim Drake's camouflaging himself, running around rooftops at night to take out the Magistrate's soldiers and Peacekeeper's watchmen. However, in one brutal run-in, he fights the robotic vigilante killers known as Cybers, yet his EMP doesn't work on one. While Spoiler returns to blow its head off, she warns Tim he's biting off more than he could chew.

He takes some of the green substance he finds leaking from the bot to Darcy for analysis. Spoiler wants no part of this as she's going back into retirement, which she took since Bruce went missing and was assumed dead. It's revealed that this is the Lazarus Resin, with the Magistrate using funds to drain the pits across the globe and then powering up the Cybers, making the machines the ultimate indestructible killers.

Tim decides that they need to stop the next shipment from coming in or else he'll lose Gotham forever, but the misson goes awry after he and Darcy suit up. Even with Spoiler going back on her word and joining them, a giant Cyber breaks Tim's neck, only for the resin to leak out and bring him the Boy Wonder to life. Now revived, it's unclear if Tim Drake is immortal or if it merely rejuvenated him this one time.

We're also unsure what will be the side-effects because, as we've seen in the past, the green ooze drives people mad. Darcy even admitted it wasn't working on organic beings again, so the fact it works on Tim is unsettling.

Still, he seems to be in his senses and ready for a next round but we can't help but worry. Tim's already in a precarious spot mentally as most of the Bat-Family members are out of service or in other districts, so he's not in a good position to be an inadvertent guinea pig. And if he falls into a Lazarus-driven rage, the first people he hurts will be his friends.
