Batman has become stuck in the world of Fortnite, one of the world's most popular video games. And in Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #4, by Donald Mustard, Christos Gage, Christian Duce and John Kalisz, Batman begins to slowly understand the world he's been stranded in and how to possibly escape.

While attempting to investigate the strange anomaly in Gotham City, Batman was sucked through and left stranded on a strange island. Since he usually has one of the most brilliant minds in the DC universe, it shouldn't have been a problem for Batman to figure out where he was, and better yet, how to return home. However, Batman has no memory of where he came from, and after every 22 minutes on the strange island, he finds himself warped back to when he first appeared. And when he starts asking questions, one of the island's other fighters seriously calls out the Dark Knight's detective skills.

As Batman leaves notes and clues for himself at the end of every chronal cycle, the pieces start to fall into place for him. But during his latest cycle, he stumbles across a chance encounter with Catwoman and the villainous Deathstroke. Batman and Catwoman fight Deathstroke, and in a bizarre turn of events, the mercenary surrenders to Batman and Catwoman. Catwoman and Deathstroke proceed to explain to Batman that they've become aware of the loop that they have found themselves in. Suddenly, Batman regains all of the memories from each of his own loop cycles on the island. While not remembering much before his arrival, the knowledge of how the island operates is one big step towards the ultimate truth of the island.

Before Batman, Catwoman and Deathstroke can deliberate further, a group of people dressed in every outfit imaginable surrounds them. Tensions run high since no one totally trusts one another, but as all present begin to understand one another, the realization that they're all on the same side brings them together. Batman begins to ask the woman known as Raider questions about the world itself. As Raider explains how and why no one can escape the island, and all of the wild events that have occurred on it, Batman gains a better understanding of where he is. As he vocalizes his thoughts, a bipedal orange fish-man known as Fishstick makes a crack that Batman isn't "the world's greatest detective." When Batman asks if Fishstick is capable of breathing underwater, Fishstick reiterates how Batman clearly isn't the best detective around.

The crack itself takes a playful jab at Batman's unofficial title of “The World's Greatest Detective.” Since no one remembers any world outside of the island, it's impossible that Fishstick could have known that Batman is famous for his detective work. As Batman begins to take control of the situation, formulating plans and missions for each person present, it becomes clear to everyone that Batman truly does possess the chops to lead them and discover the secrets of the island. Fishstick's jab at Batman comes full circle when Fishstick is attacked at the end of the issue while attempting to bring a mysterious device to Batman.

With the mystery of the island and the constant inclusion of guest characters keeping things fresh, it's safe to say that Fortnite is a cultural institution that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. What isn't clear is how long Batman will continue to stay on the island and what secrets he'll uncover in the coming issues.
