Fans of The Batman continue to rally for the upcoming sequel to include a surprising addition to the Gotham City skyline: police blimps.A steady trickle of blimp-related Batman 2 demands have appeared on Twitter since the first film's release back in March 2022. Many of these tweets argue that the airships, first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series and later adopted in the comics and other media, would gel well with the aesthetic director Matt Reeves established in The Batman. Others added that it would make sense for the Gotham City Police Department to pilot blimps in the sequel, as ground vehicles would be impractical now that the Dark Knight's hometown is flooded.Related: GCPD Car Seen Driving in England Is Unrelated to Any Official Batman Projects

Warner Bros. and DC Films officially announced The Batman 2 in April 2022. Little is currently known about the film, other than that Reeves and star Robert Pattinson are both set to return. Pattinson previously revealed that he's already sketched out Bruce Wayne's character arc across not just one but two sequels. "I've made a kind of map for where Bruce's psychology would grow over two more movies," he said.

Reeves and Pattinson have also weighed in on the debate regarding whether Robin should appear in The Batman 2. While Reeves expressed doubts that the Caped Crusader's sidekick could fit within his more grounded vision of Gotham, Pattinson was more willing to entertain the idea -- on one condition. "[Robin] has to be 13," he said. "That's the only way I'll accept it... people are so scared of it, but it's kind of exciting. I think it would be a really fun addition."

Batman's allies aren't the only source of speculation surrounding the follow-up film, either. Fans remain fixated on teasing out the identity of The Batman 2's villain, with Barry Keoghan's Joker among the front runners to fill this position. Keoghan made a brief cameo as the Dark Knight's arch-nemesis shortly before the credits rolled on The Batman. He was originally set to play a larger role in the film before a scene between him and Pattinson was removed from the final cut.

Another Bat-villain's name regularly bandied about for The Batman 2 is Hush. The bandage-faced baddie was hinted at in The Batman and Reeves subsequently singled him out as a strong candidate for the upcoming sequel's main antagonist. "I think Hush is a really interesting one to do... That doesn't mean that the next [movie villain] will be Hush. I just want to say, there are so many," he said.

The Batman 2 does not yet have a release date.
