In March 2021, DC Comics will introduce its Infinite Frontier initiative. The new initiative will see new creative teams boarding DC's ongoing titles, aiming to take the DC Universe in a brand new direction.

According to Batman group editor Ben Abernathy, this is part of a new approach that DC will take with its titles during Infinite Frontier. "There's one component I want to mention because it ties into one of the things we're experimenting with. There's a four-pronged approach we're using as we're launching into March," Abernathy told CBR.

"The first one I mentioned was Batman: Urban Legends, a monthly 64 page book. Batman, Detective Comics, and Joker are going to be oversized monthlies as well. They're going to be thirty page stories and each month will feature a backup story, which will sometimes connect," Abernathy continued. "With the Joker we have the Punchline team back together and we're going to continue the story with James Tynion, Sam Johns, and Mirka Andolfo from the Punchline special last month."

Batman: Urban Legends is an anthology focused on the Dark Knight's allies, with stories by various creative teams. DC will also debut Superman: Red and Blue, an anthology in the same vein that focuses on the Man of Steel. James Tynion IV will continue to write Batman and will write the Joker series with Guillem March on art, while Mariko Tamaki and Dan Mora will take over Detective Comics

Infinite Frontier will begin with the 64-page Infinite Frontier #0, which goes on sale on March 2, 2021.
