A new Batman fan film features a supporting cast packed with character actors -- including alums from science fiction and crime films.

Batman: Dying is Easy, developed by father and son duo Sean and Aaron Schoenke, was recently released on the Bat in the Sun YouTube channel. The film, described as "a psychological, dark detective story with an almost horror film feel," features a battle of wits between Batman and the Joker. The Schoenkes also directed the film, with Aaron penning the script and portraying the Clown Prince of Crime in the film.

The film also features cameos from Michael Madsen (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs) and Doug Jones (Hellboy, Star Trek: Discovery). Madsen portrays Detective Harvey Bullock, while Jones has a brief cameo as the Riddler. Other cameos include Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) as Commissioner Gordon and musician Chris Daughtry as Hugo Strange. Kevin Porter plays the Dark Knight, reprising his role from previous Bat in the Sun productions.

The Schoenkes had launched an Indiegogo campaign for Batman: Dying is Easy, which raised $75,703 in funds for the film. Bat in the Sun has made other fan films, most notably the Super Power Beat Down series -- which pits various characters from pop culture against each other.
