Among DC's heroes, Batman has a fearsome reputation. He's the brains of the Justice League and is known for having to plan to deal with everything and everyone. Batman is a pragmatic man and always likes to be prepared, giving him a leg up in battle. However, that doesn't mean he's ready for every hero in the DC Universe, including the ones he's planned for.

Even with his vaunted prep time and preset plans, there are a lot of heroes that Batman just couldn't beat on his own. At best, he'd need a diversion to make his plans work and at worst he just doesn't have what it takes to go it alone.

10 Plastic Man Is One Of The Few Heroes Batman Is Afraid Of

Intense Plastic Man from DC Comics

Plastic Man may seem like a big goofball, but nothing can be further from the truth. His powers make him one of the most formidable heroes on Earth. His shapeshifting powers have shown no limits, and he's pretty much indestructible. Batman has readily admitted that Plastic Man is one of the few people he's scared of, so he would never go after him alone.

Plastic Man can handle even the most powerful foes rather easily. Batman knows just how dangerous Plas can be, so he's going to bring as much back-up as he can, if only just to slow Plas down enough for Batman to put whatever plan he made into action.

9 Wally West Knows Better Than To Give Batman A Chance

Wally West running and changing costumes, progressing towards his modern outfit.

Wally West was a member of the Justice League when Batman's plans against the team were used by Ra's al Ghul. Even if Batman has changed the plan, the minute Wally knows he's fighting Batman, he's going to go into overdrive to take him down. Since Wally's the fastest Flash, that wouldn't be hard at all.

Batman is smart enough to know that Wally isn't going to go easy on him. He might have a weapon to beat a Flash, but it's highly dependent on getting the drop on them and that's not something Wally is going to let happen. Batman is going to need a lot of heroes to take down the Scarlet Speedster.

8 Black Adam's Savagery Would Make Things Difficult For A Solo Batman

Black Adam 4 Header

Black Adam may have joined the Justice League, but he's still a take no prisoners type of fighter. Empowered by the Wizard Shazam, Black Adam's godly might has proven to be too much for all manner of foes, and Batman knows just how dangerous Adam can be. He may have a plan for dealing with Shazam, but fighting Black Adam is a whole other ballpark.

Black Adam is out for the kill in every fight. Batman is just a regular human, and he knows that even with his various armors, including the Hellbat, it would only be a matter of time before Adam destroys him. If he had to face Adam, he'd bring as many heroes as he could get.

7 If Superman Was Serious, Batman Would Need Everyone

Superman Earth Stealers Cover

Superman is the perfect role model, which is why any plan that takes advantage of his weakness works against him. Superman is a nice guy, and while Batman isn't, he also knows that all of his ways of dealing with the Man of Steel aren't feasible on his own, especially if Superman is serious about fighting him. Superman is just too powerful.

Even against Superman at his nicest, Batman would want to bring other heroes to help him out. Just because he's "prepared" for the Kryptonian doesn't mean that everything is going to go how Batman wants, so he'll want to make sure of it by bringing help to even things up.

6 Wonder Woman Is Too Good Of A Warrior To Let Batman Win Solo

Diana Prince Transforms Into Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is the greatest warrior on the planet, and she was with the Justice League when Batman's plans were used against them. A warrior of her stature isn't just going to leave things to chance, especially knowing that Batman has a method for beating her. And Batman is smart enough to know that.

Batman may have multiple methods for dealing with Wonder Woman, but she knows that just as well as he does. In fact, she knows many of the methods he'd use. Batman is too smart to leave anything to chance, so he'll bring a squad with him to go after the Amazon Warrior.

5 Batman Doesn't Know Enough About Raven To Beat Her

Raven from DC's Teen Titans stands ready for combat, her cloak billowing

The Teen Titans have produced some potent heroes. While Dick Grayson has been integral to the team, he hasn't made plans to deal with them if they go bad, unlike Batman with the League. That's going to make it hard for Batman to deal with their members, especially Raven. Every time Raven has gone bad, the Titans have depended on their relationship with her to give them a chance.

The only way Batman can replicate that sort of thing would be to get her former teammates to help him. Raven's power can destroy planets if she wants to, and Batman doesn't know how to deal with her. He'd definitely call in Dick and the other Titans for help.

4 Martian Manhunter Has A Simple Weakness, But He Knows It

Martian manhunter Cropped

Martian Manhunter is the League's most multi-faceted member. His weakness to fire is rather mundane, and he knows it, which allows him to be ready for those sorts of attacks. Like other League members, MM was around when Batman's plans were used against the team, so he knows what to expect if he faces Batman solo.

Batman respects J'onn like few others because he knows just how formidable the alien hero is. He also knows that J'onn is smart enough to fry his brain at the speed of thought as soon as the fight starts. Batman is too smart to deal with MM by himself.

3 Zatanna Has Devastated Batman In The Past

DC comics' Zatanna, in costume, complete with hat and wand.

Zatanna's superhero career has taken her to some strange places, and one of them saw her mindwipe Batman. She used her magic to stop the Caped Crusader dead in his tracks, completely taking him out of the fight. Even before all of that, the two of them knew each other very well, as Batman trained in escapology with Zatanna's father.

Batman knows what Zatanna did to him and knows just how hard she is to beat in a fight. He has a healthy fear of her because of what was done to him, so he's not going to want to chance it and try to fight her one on one.

2 Doctor Fate's Power Is Just Too Great

DC Comics Doctor Fate

The Justice League Dark has its special purview, but even before that team existed, Doctor Fate was helping the League and the Justice Society with magical threats. The current Doctor Fate is Khalid Nassour, and while he's still learning the ropes as Fate, he has vast magical knowledge and the power of Nabu on his side, which is reason enough for Batman to tread lightly.

Nabu is definitely the scariest part of fighting Fate. He can take control of the situation if he has permission to, and even if he doesn't, he still helps out in the battle. Batman knows enough about how Fate works to be afraid of both of those eventualities, so there's no way he tackles Fate by himself.

1 The Spectre Is Out Of Everybody's League

DC Adventure Comics #431 featuring The Spectre

The Spectre is the most powerful magical being on Earth. The Angel of God's Vengeance has pretty much unlimited reality-altering power and has battled against the most powerful foes imaginable. The Spectre isn't unbeatable, but Batman is smart enough to know that he can't do it on his own.

Beating the Spectre takes the kind of magical knowledge that Batman is going to need a lot of help to assemble. The Spectre can pretty much do whatever he wants and has proven it in every battle he's fought. Batman isn't even going to try to beat the Spectre solo because he knows it would be impossible without a lot of help from DC's magical heroes.
