Writer and illustrator Sean Gordon Murphy's Batman: White Knight examined a darker Gotham City, where the Caped Crusader was painted more as a public danger than a superhero. The series re-defined the relationship between the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime, all while featuring plenty of surprising twists for Nightwing, Batgirl and, perhaps most notably, Harley Quinn. Now, Murphy has revealed the series' sequel, Batman: Curse of the White Knight, will feature a major revelation about Harley.
On Twitter, Murphy shared a panel from the upcoming series that reveals the origin behind Harley's iconic three-diamond logo. The panel shows Harley holding a 3 of diamonds card with a note written on it by the Joker, along with the following caption: "BIG HARLEY REVEAL: why does she wear the three diamonds? Because of the first love letter Joker (Napier) gave her long ago. Written on a playing card--the 3 of diamonds."

Harley Quinn's costumes have featured the 3-diamond logo in one form or another, but this appears to be the first in-universe attempt to give the logo an origin story of its own. While White Knight takes place in a separate continuity, it's currently unclear if this could also be the origin story for the 3-diamond logo in the regular DC Universe.
Batman: Curse of the White Knight is written and illustrated by Sean Gordon Murphy. The Black Label miniseries will run for eight monthly issues. Issue #1 is slated to hit store shelves July 24.
