WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Batman: Curse of the White Knight #7, by Sean Murphy, Matt Hollingsworth and AndWorld Design, on sale now.

Over the years, Batman has driven plenty of different Batmobile models. In more than 80 years of comics, there have almost been too many versions to count, and that number only grows when you factor in other mediums such as cartoons, movies and video games. From Adam West's Batman '66 model to Christopher Nolan's Tumbler, everyone has their own personal favorite version of the Batmobile.

And it turns out that the Dark Knight himself is partial to a certain iteration. For years, you might have wondered which Batmobile was actually Batman's favorite and finally, the answers has arrived in Batman: Curse of the White Knight #7.

Azrael Curse of the White Knight

At the start of Batman: Curse of the White Knight, Azrael, propelled by the power of belief and his need for vengeance against the Wayne family, declared war on Bruce. The villain blew Wayne Manor to bits, but the massive house wasn't the only thing that went up in flames -- so too did the Batcave, and most of Batman's arsenal of gadgets and collection of vehicles. Since then, the Dark Knight has been fighting back, using only what was left.

However, in Batman: Curse of the White Knight #7, we learn that a single Batmobile survived the cave's destruction: one that's reminiscent of the vehicle the Caped Crusader drove in Tim Burton's Batman '89 and its sequel, Batman Returns. In Sean Murphy's universe, the '89 Batmobile first appeared in 2018's Batman: White Knight #6. At that point, the car had been stolen by Nightwing and driven by Gordon to take down an unhinged Batman. While the model had been drawn as an Easter eggs in other comics before, this was the first time the '89 Batmobile actually factored into a story in a significant manner.

Now, the vehicle makes a return in Curse of the White Knight. And this time, it's even better, because Batman is the one who finds himself in the driver's seat. Better yet, when he shows the rest of his allies that this particular Batmobile was still left intact after the cave's destruction, Bruce says: "This one's always been my favorite."

So there you have it -- the matter is settled. There are plenty of awesome Batmobiles, which all could have been Bruce's preferred choice. But it's not Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's lethal ride, or Batman: Arkham Knight's armored tank, it's the one that has become synonymous with the Dark Knight.
