Tom King and Clay Mann's Batman/Catwoman maxiseries finally has a release date. The 12-issue book will debut this December under DC Comics' Black Label imprint and focus on the romantic exploits of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle.

The series will explore three different eras of time; the past where Bruce and Selina first met; the present; and 80 years into a potential future. Complicating matters for the two lovers is the ever-present menace of the Joker, as well as Bruce's old flame Andrea Beaumont — better known as the ghastly Phantasm. In addition to the maxiseries, a Batman/Catwoman Special will be released next June.

Andrea first appeared in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, a feature-length film set in the world of Batman: The Animated Series. She fell in love with a young Bruce Wayne, but left him when her father was murdered by mobsters — more specifically, a mobster who would become the Joker. Andrea returned to Gotham years later to wreak vengeance on her father's killers as the Phantasm. Much like Harley Quinn, Andrea is a character who made the jump from animation to comics.

The preview pages showcase Batman and Catwoman in a variety of situations; attempting to escape a serpentine monster and locked in the throes of passion. Another image showcases the Joker with a Tommy gun. The series was initially set to release earlier this year, but was delayed so that Mann could finish his artwork.

Batman/Catwoman #1 goes on sale Dec. 1 from DC Comics.
