The controversy about the Batman/Catwoman sex scene that was allegedly removed from an upcoming episode of the Harley Quinn TV series on HBO Max has seen a number of interesting people weigh in on the story, from Batman Forever star Val Kilmer to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, and now the son of comic book legend Dave Cockrum is even weighing in via some X-rated art that his late father drew.

Ivan Cockrum decided to jump into the controversy on Twitter by sharing some drawings from his father's sketchbook that Ivan felt was on point in this debate.

The debate, of course, started when Harley Quinn co-showrunner Justin Halpern revealed that there was a scene cut from the show's third season where Batman was performing a sex act on Catwoman, "It’s incredibly gratifying and free to be using characters that are considered villains because you just have so much more leeway. A perfect example of that is in this third season of Harley [when] we had a moment where Batman was going down on Catwoman. And DC was like, 'You can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that.' They’re like, 'Heroes don’t do that.' So, we said, 'Are you saying heroes are just selfish lovers?' They were like, 'No, it’s that we sell consumer toys for heroes. It’s hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.'"

The discussion of whether that is something that heroes do made Cockrum think of some art that he had seen in his father's sketchbook.

He shared an X-rated drawing of Nightcrawler doing to Storm the act that DC wouldn't let Batman perform on Catwoman and noted, "Never did I imagine there being a right time to share this, but if there ever was, this is it. These are from the final sketchbook of my dad, Dave Cockrum, creator of Nightcrawler and Storm."

Now, obviously, before you click on the link above, be prepared that it is, in fact, rather explicit drawings of Nightcrawler and Storm by their co-creator. Cockrum was well known for his willingness to go X-rated in his art for jokes and commentary. For instance, he would often complain about the design of Ms. Marvel's original costume and drew an X-rated "wardrobe malfunction" once to complain about the design.
