A fan-made movie poster has re-cast Michael Keaton as Old Bruce Wayne in a hypothetical Batman Beyond film.Featuring the faces of a young and present-day Keaton hovering in parallel over a blood-red Gotham City and an eery Batman suit, the BossLogic poster features only the word "BEYOND" in a futuristic font. The piece was uploaded to Twitter calling for Keaton to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in a live-action adaptation of the animated series Batman Beyond. The artwork was posted with the caption "Do it..." and fans across social media have enthusiastically agreed.Related: Batman: Michael Keaton's Original Cowl is Being Sold - And It'll Cost You

The animated series began trending on Twitter after it was announced that Keaton would return as the Dark Knight in the upcoming film, The Flash, as part of the DC Extended Universe. The Flash, expected to begin filming in April, will feature both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton and link the two universes and plotlines together as Barry Allen (aka The Flash) travels through the multiverse.

Rumors concerning whether Keaton planned to extend his return to the character began after a New York Times interview with DC Films' President Walter Hamada sparked speculation. When a curious fan asked the interviewer Brooks Barnes about Batman's DCEU future, his one-word answers -- "Keaton" -- led to numerous media outlets reporting that 1989's Batman would become the DCEU's prime Caped Crusader. However, Barnes eventually confirmed he was only speaking to Keaton's appearance in The Flash, not any subsequent DC film projects.

Michael Keaton first played the Caped Crusader in Tim Burton's Batman, which was considered a critical and financial success. Earning over $400 million at the box office, it was the fifth-highest-grossing film in history at the time of its release in 1989 and inspired two sequels, the first of which (Batman Returns) Keaton also headlined.

Taking place 50 years after the events of Keaton's films, Batman Beyond does not revolve around the original Batman - Bruce Wayne. Instead, the plot mainly follows high school student Terry McGinnis who has only recently taken over the Batman title. Although he was entirely his own unique Batman, he remained under the strict supervision of the now injured and elderly Bruce Wayne. As part of the DC Animated Universe, McGinnis battled a series of villains both new and old in a futuristic version of Gotham City for 3 seasons between 1999 and 2001. Batman Beyond continued as a comic, ending with the final installment, Batman Beyond #50 on Dec. 22, 2020.
