The entirety of Warner Bros. Animation's beloved DC animated series Batman Beyond will be soon available in a limited edition box set.

The box set was announced at the series' 20th anniversary panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego. It is scheduled for release on Oct. 15th and contains all 52 episodes of the series, 41 of which have been fully remastered. The remaining 11 episodes, while very much included and up-resed, could not be remastered to to the fact that they were too time-worn. Additionally, the 6-disc box set will include bonus features, an action figure and, of course, the film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

Batman fans everywhere were pleasantly surprised by Batman Beyond when the series first debuted back in 1999. This unique series, which built from the mythos of Batman: The Animated Series, took viewers to the future of Gotham City, where a young man named Terry McGinnis has taken on the responsibilities of the Dark Knight long after Bruce Wayne hung up the cowl. Terry's story resonated with many and continues to develop through the DC comic books to this day.

After three seasons, Batman Beyond was canceled in the early 2000s, presumably to make way for Justice League, which brought DC's animated universe together. Still, the series spawned several spinoffs, including the aforementioned direct-to-video film and comic books, as well as video games. The original television series never received an official conclusion. Though, an ending of sorts was provided through the Justice League Unlimited episode "Epilogue."
