An Instagram fan allowed audiences to travel back in time to see what The Batman's Robert Pattinson would look like in Adam West's legendary 1966 costume.

Many actors, from Ben Affleck to Christian Bale, have played the caped crusader. Pattinson is the latest actor cast to embody the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Production on the film was suspended in March due to the coronavirus (COVD-19) pandemic, and once more this summer when Pattinson tested positive for the disease.

However, the film's production has resumed, inspiring fans to show their excitement over social media for the new iteration of Bruce Wayne. One fan, houseofmat, paid homage to the character by creating artwork that dressed Pattinson in West's classic ensemble from 1966's Batman.

Reeves revealed during DC Fandome that The Batman and its world will take place on a separate Earth. His statements showed an example of what Walter Hamada, president of DC Films, meant when he discussed the DC multiverse. "This really opens the door for us to do more crossovers," Hamada said. "To establish this idea that there can be a Flash on TV and a Flash in the movies. On one Earth, you have Gal and Jason and Ezra...while on another Earth, you can have a more grounded, real, Year Two Batman."

Directed by Matt Reeves and co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 1, 2021.
