DC Comics has revealed the first official preview for Batman '89, the upcoming digital-first limited series by Sam Hamm and Joe Quinones that marks the triumphant return of Michael Keaton's cinematic version of the Caped Crusader from director Tim Burton's classic films.

Batman '89 #1 goes on sale in print on Tuesday, Aug. 10. "When the new six-issue comic book run launches next month, Gotham City is being torn in two as citizens dressed as Batman and The Joker duke it out in the streets!" DC's official release reads. "As D.A. Harvey Dent tries to keep the city together, he targets the one problem tearing it apart: Batman! And he'll get Bruce Wayne's help in taking down the Dark Knight!"

To that point, the preview pages provided by DC show that while Jack Nicholson's version of the Joker may be dead and gone, his influence is very much alive and well in Gotham. Moreover, as some of the covers released for the series imply, Batman '89 will finally see Billy Dee Williams' version of Harvey Dent transform into the villainous Two-Face.

At this time, DC has revealed four preview pages from Batman '89 #1. In addition to the previously revealed main cover by Quinones and Two-Face-starring variant cover by Jerry Ordway, the publisher has also revealed a 1:25 variant by Quinones, a team variant by Ken Taylor and Taurin Clarke that will be available in participating comic shops, a variant by Francesco Mattina that will be available exclusively at Comic Kingdom of Canada, a variant by Mico Suayan that will be available at Big Time Collectibles and a variant by Carla Cohen that will be available at Comics Elite. While the artwork has not been revealed yet, DC has also announced a variant by Warren Louw, which will be available at KRS Comics.
