Batkid Has Officially Defeated His Archnemesis and is Cancer-Free

Batkid has officially beaten cancer.

Miles Scott first rose to prominence five years ago. Afflicted with leukemia, then five-year old Miles was visited by the Make-A-Wish foundation. The group, which provides experiences for extremely sick children, turned Miles into Batkid.

Now, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, Miles is officially cancer-free. Miles, who lives with his parents and two siblings in Tulelake, California, is currently in the fifth grade and living a normal, healthy childhood.

Miles' story took the country by storm in 2013. Dressed in his own superhero costume, Miles was joined by an actor dressed as Batman and tasked with helping save the city of San Francisco. He saved hostages, helped bring down the Riddler and was awarded the key to the city by the mayor. Hundreds came out in support of Miles and helped sell the idea.

The widespread coverage of the event proved beneficial for the Make-A-Wish foundation, which reported a massive increase in donations thanks in part to the exposure from Batkid.

A documentary, Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World, has been produced about the event. The documentary was released in 2015 and is currently available for purchase.
