A new Batgirl set photo features an Easter egg tying the upcoming HBO Max release to fellow DC Extended Universe film Wonder Woman 1984.Shared to the r/DCEUleaks subreddit, as well as Twitter, the photos in question showcases a van belonging to Stagg Enterprises. The company's founder, Simon Stagg, previously appeared in Wonder Woman 1984, in which he was portrayed by Oliver Cotton.RELATED: Batgirl Video Shows the DCEU's Newest Hero Dangle a Criminal From a Window

Created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon, Simon Stagg has been a member of the DC Universe for quite some time, first appearing in The Brave and the Bold #57, cover-dated January 1965. The character's company, Stagg Enterprises --  also known as Stagg Industries or simply STAGG -- debuted one issue later in Haney and Fradon's The Brave and the Bold #58, cover-dated March 1965.

Prior to making his big-screen debut in 2020's Wonder Woman 1984, Stagg was portrayed by William Sadler in an episode of The Flash in 2014. In Wonder Woman 1984, Cotton's version of Stagg runs Stagg Industries, which invests in Maxwell Lord's (Pedro Pascal) company, Black Gold Cooperative. However, Stagg eventually discovers that Black Gold is little more than a Ponzi scheme. Ultimately, Lord -- imbued with the power of the Dreamstone -- has Stagg Industries raided and Stagg himself arrested for tax evasion.

That said, judging by these new Batgirl set photos, it looks as though everything went back to normal for Stagg's company after Lord (along with the rest of the world) renounced his wish at the end of the Wonder Woman sequel. Interestingly, though, while Wonder Woman 1984 referred to the company as Stagg Industries/STAGG, Batgirl has adopted the Stagg Enterprises name for this Easter egg.

While it's possible that the company simply changed its name in the 30 some-odd years since Wonder Woman 1984, these wouldn't be the first Batgirl set photos to put the film's continuity at odds with the rest of the current DCEU. Easter eggs pertaining to Lex Luthor (played in the DCEU by Jesse Eisenberg) have surfaced as well, though the character's name is spelled as "Lex Luther." The biggest example, however, is that fact that in Batgirl, Ben Affleck's Batman is not the world's active Dark Knight -- Michael Keaton's version is.

Prior to showing up as the character in Batgirl, Keaton is expected to reprise his version of Batman in the theatrically-released DCEU film The Flash, which is due to premiere on Nov. 4. The Flash will also feature Ben Affleck's version of Batman. News surrounding the production of Batgirl (such as Keaton's involvement) has lent credence to the rumor that The Flash will serve to soft-reboot the DCEU in a Flashpoint-esque manner, changing certain aspects of DC's shared film universe while keeping others. After all, Batgirl definitely appears to be set in the DCEU, with J.K. Simmons slated to reprise his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon from both versions of Justice League.

In addition to Keaton and Simmons, Batgirl stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Ivory Aquino as Alysia Yeoh and Brendan Fraser as Firefly. The film is expected to arrive on HBO Max in 2022. While it does not currently have a release date, it will likely premiere in either November or December.
