A series of new images from the set of Warner Bros.' upcoming Batgirl film gives audiences a look at actor Michael Keaton's new Batman costume.Batgirl is currently preparing to film in Glasgow, Scotland, where passers-by were able to get a look at a variety of murals fleshing out the world of the upcoming film. One of these murals depicts Michael Keaton's Batman sporting a new and improved suit. Among the more notable differences is the mask, which frames Keaton's face differently-- at least in the illustration. In addition, the insignia on Batman's chest, while resembling that of the 1989 film, now blends into the armor more smoothly.RELATED: Batgirl Set Photos Turn Gotham Into a Winter Wonderland

Keaton's involvement in Batgirl was revealed in December 2021, when a cast list for the film surfaced online, featuring his name alongside the likes of stars Leslie Grace, J.K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser and Jacob Scipio. This followed news that Keaton will make his official return to the role in The Flash, set to premiere on Nov. 3, 2022.

The actor will appear alongside the DCEU's Ben Affleck, who last appeared in Zack Snyder's Justice League. However, Affleck recently revealed that he did not share any scenes with Keaton, though he expressed uncertainty regarding the other potential Batmen set to appear in The Flash, teasing that it is possible George Clooney's infamous iteration of the Dark Knight may return to screens. In addition, Warner Bros. revealed The Flash will see the return of a few familiar faces, including actors Michael Shannon and Antje Traue from Man of Steel, reprising their respective roles as General Zod and Faora-Ul.

Details concerning the plot of Batgirl are currently scarce, though it was previously reported it will feature supervillains such as Firefly, who was later confirmed to be the supervillain played by Fraser. Simmons, who first appeared as Commissioner Gordon in 2017's Justice League, has also teased that his appearance as Commissioner Gordon will be a significant one.

Venturing into somewhat more uncertain territory-- it was rumored that the Batgirl film will also pave the way for a solo film centered on Black Canary, who made her DCEU debut in Birds of Prey. While this particular rumor has not been confirmed, actor Jurnee Smollett has stated in the past that she will return to the role in an upcoming spinoff film. Whether or not Batgirl will play a part in setting it up remains to be seen.

Batgirl is currently set to hit both theaters and HBO Max in 2022.
