These photos of Grace on set are the latest to come from the Batgirl set. Other recent photos have shown Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne/Batman and his Robin, teasing the actor's return to the role following his appearance in The Flash later this year. Additionally, some set photos have sparked speculation about just who will be in the film with potential references to classic Batman villain Hugo Strange and Young Justice's Klarion the Witch Boy.

Created by William Dozier, Julius Schwartz, Gardner Fox and Carmine Infantino, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl made her comics debut in 1967's Detective Comics #359 after having appeared in the 1960s Batman TV series. The daughter of Commissioner Jim Gordon, Batgirl works with Batman and is especially skilled in the use of technology. After being shot by the Joker in 1988's Batman: The Killing Joke, Gordon used those skills as Oracle, an information broker assisting such teams as the Birds of Prey.

The DC Extended Universe's Batgirl movie was announced in 2017. While Avengers director Joss Whedon was initially slated to write, direct and produce the project, he left the project a little less than a year later, saying he was unable to come up with a story. The Flash, Birds of Prey and Bumbleebee writer Christina Hodson then boarded the project, with Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah attached to direct.

At this time, there aren't many confirmed details regarding the plot of Batgirl. There's some indication that the film is drawing from 2003's Batgirl: Year One, by Scott Beatty, Chuck Dixon, Marcos Martin and Alvaro Lopez. There are also rumors the movie will set up a solo film centered on Black Canary. Casting on the project sees J.K. Simmons reprising his role as Jim Gordon following his appearance in 2017's Justice League. Brendan Fraser will also play Firefly, the movie's villain.

Batgirl will premiere exclusively on HBO Max. The film does not yet have a release date.
