HBO Max's Batgirl movie seems to be bringing Leslie Grace's Barbara Gordon to an important shop from the character's comics.

Leaked photos posted to Imgur from Batgirl's set show a string of Gotham City storefronts, including Infantino's Costumes For All Occasions. This shop, named for longtime Batman artist and Batgirl co-creator Carmine Infantino, is prevalent in Batgirl: Year One, one of the most popular retellings of the hero's origin story. Its inclusion on the set of Batgirl suggests the film will pay homage to the character's comic book source material when it introduces Batgirl's costume.

In Batgirl: Year One, a young Barbara Gordon visits Infantino's Costumes For All Occasions while looking for a women's Batman costume. After a fight with her father, Gotham City police commissioner Jim Gordon, Barbara intends to wear the outfit to a party as a way of upsetting him. Unfortunately, Barbara is disappointed by Infantino's options and leaves the shop empty-handed, causing her to make her Batgirl costume herself. But before Barbara can reveal her outfit to her father, a crazed villain attacks the party. Barbara decides to use the costume to her benefit and saves the day while in the masked guise. This incident convinces Barbara to become a crime-fighter, using the Bat-motif to protect her secret identity.

This storefront isn't the only thread connecting Batgirl to Year One. When actor Leslie Grace posted her Batgirl uniform to social media, she captioned the image with an inspirational quote pulled from the pages of the character's origin story. Additionally, set photos from Batgirl's production have confirmed that the movie will feature Brendan Fraser as Firefly. Alongside Killer Moth, Firefly was one of the main antagonists of Batgirl: Year One and, consequently, was one of the first significant villains that Barbara defeated.

Though Grace's Barbara is the primary focus of Batgirl, she isn't Gotham City's only protector. Actor J.K. Simmons will portray Jim Gordon, reprising his Justice League role. In addition, Michael Keaton will play Bruce Wayne in Batgirl after returning as Batman in The Flash. And recent rumors suggest that Batgirl has cast a familiar MTV star as Nightwing. Though this has yet to be confirmed by the film's production team, multiple photos from the set of Batgirl point to the character's arrival, with Robin appearing on faded graffiti and a magazine clipping alluding to Dick Grayson's presence.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a script by Christina Hodson, Batgirl will be available exclusively on HBO Max in 2022.
