A set photo from the DC Extended Universe's (DCEU) Batgirl has Barbara Gordon (Leslie Grace) showing some love to the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD).Posted on the Batgirl Film News Twitter account, the image shows Grace wearing a GCPD t-shirt. The photo was taken in Springburn, Glasgow, where the film is currently in production.RELATED: Leslie Grace Shares an Inspiring Batgirl Quote From Her Comic Book Research

The GCPD looks set to play a large part in the movie, as J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon—Barbara's father—from Justice League and Zack Snyder's Justice League. He previously teased that Gordon will have a "more significant" part in the film compared to his previous DCEU outings.

Gordon is not the only familiar face set to appear in Batgirl. Michael Keaton, who played Bruce Wayne / Batman in 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, will return for Barbara's debut after first appearing in The Flash. The Ezra Miller-led film will also include the DCEU's current Batman Ben Affleck, but rumor has it that the Scarlet Speedster's flick will reset the DCEU timeline somehow, making Keaton's Batman the main Caped Crusader for the shared universe.

Other cast members include Jacob Scipio in an unknown role and Brendan Fraser, who will portray the villainous pyromaniac Garfield Lynns / Firefly. Rumors are also circulating that the Nightwing will make an appearance in the film, while other set photos indicate that Vicki Val and the Court of Owls will at least be referenced.

Batgirl will serve as DC's first live-action movie to go straight to HBO Max, not including Zack Snyder's Justice League and Wonder Woman 1984, which opened same-day in theaters. This is part of WarnerMedia's new strategy to premiere films centered on lesser-known characters straight to the streamer, while the most popular ones retain theatrical releases. Other HBO Max DC films on the dock include Black Canary, which will see Jurnee Smollett reprising her Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) role. Blue Beetle starring Xolo Maridueña was originally set to debut on HBO Max but will now screen in theaters in 2023.

Batgirl is directed by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, with a script from Birds of Prey and The Flash scribe Christina Hodson. The film does not have a premiere date.
