Batgirl directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi have revealed they have a meeting scheduled with new DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Fallah and Arbi stated that they have not shut the door on working with Warner Bros. Discovery again in the future after the cancelation of the Batgirl film. The pair revealed Gunn, who, along with Peter Safran, was named co-CEO of DC Studios, recently reached out to the two directors. "There was so much support from people in the industry," Fallah said. "It felt like all the artists were supporting us and that’s great feeling, because you feel like you’re not alone." Arbi added that while they have not yet met with Gunn to discuss any potential projects, a meeting between the two parties has been scheduled.

A New Era for DC Films

After being named co-CEOs and co-chairs of DC Studios, Gunn and Safran got to work on their "DC Universe Bible." According to the pair, The bible is the first step of a 10-year plan for DC Studios. "This was such a unique opportunity to tell one great overarching story," Safran said. "One beautiful big story across film, television gaming, live-action, and animation." Gunn echoed Safran's optimism, stating that he took on this important role because he is confident that he and Safran can make DC as great as it can and should be.

Even with major creative shakeups at DC Studios, there has been no sign of hope for Fallah and Arbi's canceled Batgirl film. However, the directors are trying to find the positive side of the film's cancelation, pointing out that their names will forever be etched into the movie history books. "This is something that never happened before," he said. "So we've kind of become part of movie history without even trying!"

What Batgirl Could Have Been

While very few people actually got a glimpse of what Batgirl could have been, Brendan Fraser, who played the villain in the film, had nothing but praise for the film's crew and its star, Leslie Grace. "Leslie Grace was fantastic. She's a dynamo, just a spot-on performer," he said.

The actor added that Batgirl would have been unique because Fallah and Arbi made it a point to avoid replying on green screens, and tried their best to use a lot of practical effects. "They ran firetrucks around downtown Glasgow at 3 in the morning and they had flamethrowers. It was a big-budget movie, but one that was just stripped down to the essentials."
