Warner Bros. and DC Films' Batgirl has added a Bad Boys for Life star to its growing cast.

Actor Jacob Scipio, the breakout star of Bad Boys for Life, has been added to the cast in an unknown role. He will join Leslie Grace's Barbara Gordon and J.K Simmons' Commissioner Gordon in the Warner Bros. and DC Films project.

The upcoming film will be released exclusively on HBO Max. Details are still scarce, but casting calls for the project indicated that the film will include at least one supervillain from Batman's rogues gallery-- Firefly. Though this has not yet been confirmed.

DC FanDome also saw the unveiling of concept art teasing Batgirl's red hair and fairly comic-accurate costume. The artwork did not show what Batgirl would look like in action, but actor Leslie Grace did previously tease, "She's definitely going to be fighting lots of people. She'll be very hands-on. She's got a lot to prove." In the same interview, Grace talked about playing the first Dominican iteration of Batgirl, saying, "I think that's the thing that has me most excited about this blessing of an opportunity... Not only what it means to me because it's like a dream for anybody who gets to play one of these superheroes. We all look up to superheroes." She continued, "It's just beautiful to be a part of that journey that validates the dreams of other people who look like me, who may feel it's not an opportunity for them."

Scipio will see a few familiar faces on the set of Batgirl, as the film is being directed by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who replaced Joss Whedon in 2018. Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and The Flash writer Christina Hodson is also attached to write the script. The Batgirl film does not currently have a release date.

On top of all that, Arbi and Fallah recently teased that an undetermined version of Batman will make an appearance in Batgirl. They were careful not to divulge too much, but stated, "I can say that it's really Batman Batman." Arbi stated, "But who, we can't say."

In an interview producer Kristin Burr explained what audiences can expect from the film. "With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham... Christina's script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy which is infectious."
